San Francisco Zoo
The San Francisco Zoo houses 250 species and includes a petting zoo, miniature train and carousel for kids of all ages. New to the zoo is the spacious African Savanna exhibit, which features giraffes, zebras, kudus, ostriches and other African wildlife roaming together in a lush, three-acre habitat. This dramatic, mixed-species exhibit brings a variety of animals closer to the public than ever before.
Steinhart Aquarium
It will take more than one visit to see all that goes on at the Steinhart Aquarium. You can view poison dart frogs, box turtles, sea horses, and clown fish in jewel tanks, get an up-close-and-personal look at sturgeon, giant sea bass, alligator snapping turtles, gars, and moray eels and mingle with sea stars and hermit crabs at the Discovery Tide Pool. Plus, you can enjoy the penguins as they preen on land and swim underwater as well as interact with aquatic biologists as they study, feed and care for the animals.
