Things To Do In San Francisco

BridgePoint Inn puts you in perfect proximity to innumerable activities, attraction and just plain fun things to do in San Francisco.*** You can commune with the barking (or sometimes sunbathing) seals at Pier 39, take a ferry ride out to Alcatraz and tour the former famous prison or walk across one of the world’s most famous spans–the Golden Gate Bridge. You’ll need more than one visit to do it all. In the meantime, here are a few neighborhood favorites to get you started.

***Make'San Francisco'
Attractions at San FranciscoAlcatraz. Alcatraz Island is one of Golden Gate National Recreation Area's most popular destinations, offering a close-up look at a historic and infamous federal prison long off-limits to the public. Visitors to the island cannot only explore the remnants of the prison, but can also learn about the Indian occupation of 1969-1971, early military fortifications (the first U.S. fort on the coast) and the West Coast’s first–and oldest–working lighthouse. Pier 39. There is something for everyone at Pier 39, San Francisco’s number-one attraction. In short, it’s a festival marketplace with more than 110 stores, 13 bay view restaurants, and variety of fun-filled attractions for all ages including, splashy sea lions, street performers and live daily entertainment. Ghirardelli Square. Coated in tradition and history, Ghirardelli Square is one of San Francisco’s most treasured landmarks. It has a rich history-not unlike the chocolates that bear its name and today it is home to some of the finest views, galleries, boutiques, culinary treats and special events that San Francisco has to offer. Lombard Street at San FranciscoLombard Street. There is one section of Lombard Street in San Francisco that has to be seen to be believed. Located not far from Fisherman’s Wharf, this steep, wildly curved portion has become known as the “crookedest street in the world.” [Top]

San Francisco Zoo. The San Francisco Zoo houses 250 species and includes a petting zoo, miniature train and carousel for kids of all ages. New to the zoo is the spacious African Savanna exhibit, which features giraffes, zebras, kudus, ostriches and other African wildlife roaming together in a lush, three-acre habitat. This dramatic, mixed-species exhibit brings a variety of animals closer to the public than ever before. [Top]

Golden Gate Bridge. Clearly, one of the most recognizable sites in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge links San Francisco with Marin County. Rising 746 feet, the bridge’s two towers are nearly 200 feet taller than the Washington Monument. The 1.7 mile-long five lane suspension bridge, which crosses Golden Gate Strait, can be traveled via car, bicycle or on foot. [Top]
